Creating a New Year’s resolution is a great way to make a change. Ditch the junk food.

The very first thing you need to do is go through your fridge and pantry and toss out any item that is not good for you. Candy, potato chips, and pop should be the first thing to go. By getting rid of the junk food in your home, you’ll be less likely to cheat while trying to lose weight.

Create a meal plan.

If you are the type of person that eats out on a regular basis, this step may be hard. If you truly want to lose weight, you have to familiarize yourself with healthy foods and create healthy recipes. Making a meal plan of healthy recipes for the week can help ensure you buy the right items and stick to your diet. You should also opt for some make ahead meals that you can throw in a crockpot for dinner or that you can just grab and go for lunch. This will make it easier on you and keep you from hitting the drive-thru.

Set smaller goals.

If you set too large of a goal right away, you will become frustrated when you don’t reach that goal quickly. This is why it’s important to set smaller goals for yourself. For example, if your goal is to lose 50 pounds this year, don’t just look at it as trying to lose 50 pounds. Instead, break that 50 pounds up into smaller groups, such as losing 5 pounds every month. You’ll be able to lose 5 pounds much more quickly than losing 50, and you’ll stay motivated every time you reach your small goal.

Workout.

If you truly want to get into shape and become healthy, you have to workout. There are different options you can try. For example, you can join a gym or you can join a fitness group or program, such as yoga or zumba. You can also opt for a workout in the comfort of your own home, such as Insanity or P90X. You can even create your own workout plan and opt to use that instead. It doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do as long as you are regularly working out.
